ARLINGTON, VA, (September 19, 2016) — Executives from Penn Foster, a for-purpose organization providing skills development training, credentials and employment matching for today's frontline workforce, will focus on the key topics of career pathways and academic rigor as they collaborate with Job Corps community from across the U.S. gathered today and tomorrow at the annual National Job Corps Association (NJCA) Leadership Training Summit in Arlington, Virginia.
Penn Foster Chief Outcomes Officer Dara Warn and Managing Director Erik Hensley will join a broad group of attendees, which consists of leaders and operators from Job Corps centers nationwide, for two days of discussion examining ways to refine and improve Job Corps from all angles. Penn Foster is a key partner of Job Corps, currently partnering with close to one hundred centers across the country in providing quality high school degree and career pathway programs.
Said Warn: "The NJCA Leadership Training Summit is always a tremendous learning opportunity for us at Penn Foster because it allows us to share our latest and initiatives with the Job Corps community, while also garnering feedback on how to enhance student outcomes."
In addition to opportunities for one-on-one discussions throughout the Summit, Penn Foster executives will participate in two panel discussions. The first session, on Monday, September 19, will focus on career pathways and the importance of creating additional opportunities for Job Corps students to pursue concentrations in in-demand career fields. Penn Foster's Hensley will explain how giving students the opportunity to earn primary or secondary credentials in fast-growing career fields will enrich the student experience while increasing marketability and improving job placement rates.
As Penn Foster's Chief Outcomes Officer, Warn has gained great insight into what works in supporting Job Corps. On Tuesday, September 20 she will share her views in a discussion on the importance of academic rigor for enhancing college and career readiness. Warn will explain how ACE-approved course offerings can help Job Corps centers enhance rigor, increase student access to postsecondary credits, and improve outcomes for students and centers alike. Warn will also delve into some of the inherent benefits of offering these courses on-center, such as allowing students to earn college credits while in a familiar Job Corps environment.
