Partnership with Leading Child Care Provider Offers Penn Foster Students the Opportunity to Gain Field Experience and Connections in the Industry
SCRANTON, PA (September 7, 2017) — Penn Foster, a leading career-focused education provider for today's evolving workforce, has announced a new partnership between its Early Childhood Education Academy and Learning Care Group. As the second-largest child care provider in North America, Learning Care Group is a leader in early childhood education. Penn Foster and Learning Care Group have partnered in order to connect students in Penn Foster's Early Childhood Education Academy with internships at Learning Care Group child care centers across the nation.
Penn Foster's Early Childhood Academy, which enrolled close to 4,000 students in 2016, offers a variety of career-focused diploma and degree programs, such as the High School Diploma with Child Care Professional career pathway, Child Development Training Career Certificate, Child Care Professional Career Diploma, Undergraduate Certificate in CDA Credential Preparation and Early Childhood Education Associate Degree. These flexible, low-cost programs help students learn the skills needed to start a career in child care or further develop their career path.
"We are thrilled to be an official education partner of Learning Care Group," said Nancy Moretti Ed.D. (ABD), M.S., Director of the Early Childhood Education Academy at Penn Foster. "This offers our students the incredible opportunity to connect with Learning Care Group centers in their community through Penn Foster, and apply for paid internships where they receive invaluable hands-on training as employees."
Learning Care Group's roster of brands include: La Petite Academy, Childtime Learning Centers, Tutor Time Child Care/Learning Centers, Montessori Unlimited, The Children's Courtyard, Everbrook Academy, and Creative Kids Learning Center.
"We are excited to be working with such a renowned distance learning institution, where through this partnership students can gain real-life experience to complement their coursework," said Laura Bevier, Campus Relations Manager, Learning Care Group. "Students will learn and work in our classrooms to gain valuable on-the-job training and industry experience to use upon graduation. We hope this will help students move forward with their careers, make connections in the industry, and inspire them to become the next generation of early childhood educators."
Penn Foster students in the Early Childhood Education Associate Degree program can apply for their final semester field experience (300 hours) by emailing Laura Bevier ([email protected].) If students are accepted, Learning Care Group will pay students minimum wage for the duration of the internship. Students in the Child Care Professional Career Diploma program may also apply for their Work Experience Option for this paid internship if they exceed 140 hours.
