A Proud History

Celebrating 125 years of affordable, accessible, career-focused education

History & Mission

Dedicated to helping hardworking people prepare for careers.

As one of the original correspondence schools in the United States, Penn Foster is deeply rooted in training Americans to help them obtain practical education and technical skills to get started on their path to employment in the workforce or advance in their career.

From our origin of providing coal miners with education to increase worker safety, to our commitment to addressing the dropout crisis by offering youth and adult learners a second chance at earning a high school diploma, our mission has remained the same: to help build up student confidence for future careers and further academic pursuits through the power of affordable, accessible education.
