Gundersen Health System Partners with Penn Foster to Train Medical Assistants

Currently, the United States is experiencing worker shortages across a variety of industries. The healthcare industry may be one of the hardest hit; healthcare systems across the country struggle to find and retain the workers they need to provide effective, quality patient care. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for medical assistants, for example, is expected to grow, with at least 123,000 openings predicted each year for the next decade.
To address the shortage, Gundersen Health System of Wisconsin has partnered with Penn Foster to offer online medical assistant training programs. Trainees in the program complete courses online and also get hands-on training at GHS for six weeks.
